Still Chasing…

New Name! New Design! New Site! New Everything!!!

Welcome to my newly designed blog, Chasing L.A.! This blog was formally known as Journey to Grad School & Beyond. However, I felt that Chasing L.A. was a more relevant title for what I am doing with my life, and for what I am and will be writing about. I will be writing a post every day that will either inspire you to laugh, learn, live, or most importantly, CHASE LIFE! So what am I chasing? I am chasing many things. The main thing, as the title implies, is L.A. Ever since I was a child, I have had big goals and dreams; however, I never let anyone tell me what I could and couldn’t do. This past summer I had to fulfill one of my many requirements needed to graduate from school. Everyone within my major must complete an internship before graduating, and provide an extremely detailed and complex report about their experience. Anyway, instead of searching in Georgia for an internship, I decided that I wanted to venture further and broaden my horizon. Fortunately, it paid off! I had a great internship in Los Angeles working with MRB Productions, and met wonderful people. Although I was in a city that many people consider to be filled with residents whose thoughts are illusive and vain, I found that that stereotype should be ignored because it is not applicable to many of the people who live there. Furthermore, some people questioned whether or not the city changed me. My answer to that was that I will always be a laid-back gentleman from the south who just wants to achieve his dreams.

Anyway, after a great summer, I decided that Los Angeles would become my home after graduation. Sounds easy, right?! WRONG! I can’t even think that far in the future because I have to focus on graduating from college, and this semester is taking the life out of me. Okay, that was a little dramatic, but balancing my work life, social life, and schoolwork has never been this hard. However, every once in a while I think about how different my life will be in a couple of years, and I start to smile. I won’t be in school, but I will have more bills. Hopefully, I will have a job and a place to live, but the cost of living is pretty high. I won’t be near my family and friends, but there’s Skype right? I will still be looking for an intelligent girl who is genuine and not all about materialistic things, but can I find that in Los Angeles?  I will still be in the process of finding an overall balance in my life, but will that ever end? Well, this doesn’t sound pleasant because that means that I will never stop chasing. I will be chasing wealth, chasing success, chasing love, chasing happiness, chasing food, chasing homes, chasing cars, chasing family, chasing fun…I WILL BE CHASING LIFE!  The way I see it, we never stop chasing. We will always be chasing something in hopes of finally attaining what it is we are chasing. So you may ask, what happens when you finally move to L.A.? Will the blog end because you caught L.A.? Of course not! Even when I move there, I will still be chasing. I will be chasing a city that has endless opportunities to offer me, I will forever be chasing my dreams, and I will always be chasing and doing what makes me happy. Remember, never let anyone stop you from achieving your goals, but always help others along the way. You never know when you are going to need them. Please let everyone know about my blog and be sure to come back everyday for more!

Until tomorrow…I leave you with a song.

When I was thinking of a title for this blog, which took forever, my iTunes randomly started playing “Chasing Pavements” by Adele. One of my friends, E.J. Peters, said that I should title my blog “Chasing L.A.”. The rest is history.
