I’m done living for others, and you should be done too. Ask yourself these questions: Who are you living for? What guides your choices? What prevents you from doing certain things? In my life, there are moral obligations that I feel I must abide by. Growing up as a preacher’s kid, I was raised in a different environment than what a normal child may have to deal with. It almost feels as if you are constantly being judged just because everybody wants you to be perfect because you are the pastor’s child. The truth is that nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes that we must learn from. We all cross boundaries that we probably should not have crossed. We have all hurt people because of our actions. We all have regrets about our past, but if you could do it all over again would you? I would do it all over because all of my actions, mistakes, words, etc. have helped to shape me into the person I am today. There is a quote that I am sure we all know that says,
So what’s the keyword here? LIVE! Don’t be afraid to do something because you are afraid of what people will think. Sometimes we are so consumed with how we are perceived by others that it inhibits us from living life the way we want to. Why do we care what others think about us? If you are happy with what you are doing, then continue to do it and live life. My motto is that “Only God can judge me.” So why worry about everyone else? Ok, in certain situations we may have to care what people think. For example, we need to care what people think to keep our jobs, but overall we should all just be ourselves. I don’t know who I am writing this post for, but it was heavy on my heart.
On another note, graduation is right around the corner, and I have never had so many different emotions come at once because of a single event. However, I have come to realize that this is one of the many stepping stones in my life. Although I don’t know where this path is taking me, I am not afraid to live and take chances until I fulfill my dreams. It will be a hard road to travel, and there will be challenges and obstacles that I must face, but I am ready to face them and LIVE my life. I am ready to jump over anything that tries to keep me down. I am ready to live my life the way I want to, but most importantly let my path be guided by God. Are you ready to live?
“What is impossible with men is possible with God.” Luke 18:27
I am beyond ready to enter the next chapter of my life. As long as I have God on my side and the support of my family and friends, then that’s all that matters. Don’t wait until you are 75 and realize that you didn’t really LIVE. Live your life and pursue your dreams. I am! I am so happy to be blogging again. Until next time, be safe!
